Nutrition and Agribusiness Specialist
Dr. Ken Gunsalu is a Nutrition and Agribusiness Specialist with over a decade of experience leading innovative research, market assessments, and food systems strengthening initiatives across Malawi and beyond.
He is the Managing Director of NutriCare Consultants and his work focuses on nutrition-sensitive agriculture, food security, and value chain development, with a strong emphasis on minimizing post-harvest food waste and building resilient agri-food systems. His expertise spans Cost of the Diet (CotD) methodology, market price data analysis, food safety, nutrition programming for schools, and digital data tools (ODK, KoBoToolbox, SPSS, Stata).
His research and publications—ranging from crops in field, poultry feed innovations to market-based solutions for smallholder farmers—have been featured by the AFC-BRACE Program, ZERO Hunger Coalition, CGIAR, ICRISAT, and international policy platforms.
Ken is passionate about bridging analytics, accessible AI, and social impact to design inclusive solutions that improve food systems, reduce inequality, and strengthen livelihoods for smallholder farmers, women, and children. Fluent in English and Chichewa, he is also a committed trainer and mentor, having developed capacity-building programs for government, NGOs, and market actors.
When not working on consultancy or research, Ken champions community-led nutrition education and agribusiness mentorship, believing that sustainable change happens when local people own the solutions.

Dr. Ikechi Agbugba
Nutrition and Agribusiness Specialist
Dr. Ikechi Agbugba is an Associate Professor of Agricultural Marketing, Agribusiness Economist, and Mentor to NutriCare Malawi.Â
He supports initiatives that strengthen farmer networks, empower women, and promote food and nutrition security.A Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA-UK), he brings over two decades of experience across agricultural education, agribusiness development, entrepreneurship, and food systems innovation.
He is the pioneer of the Brain Re-Engineering Concept, a strategy to unlock youth entrepreneurial potential, recognized and registered under the U.S. Library of Congress.Dr. Ikechi has twice consulted for the United Nations (IOM) on diaspora-led agricultural capacity building in Nigeria and has contributed to global dialogues at the IFAMA World Congress and other platforms.
With an MBA in Business Management and a PhD in Agribusiness and Food Marketing, he has examined and mentored MSc and PhD scholars across Africa and served as Honorary Associate Professor at the University of Birmingham and faculty member at York St John University. His affiliations span Europe, Africa, Asia, and the U.S., where he advises on agribusiness, technology, and development.Recognized with multiple global awards, Dr. Ikechi continues to drive sustainable agricultural transformation, diaspora engagement, and youth empowerment across the Global South.

Dennis Banda
Agribusiness Extension Worker
Denis Banda is a former CorpsAfrica/Malawi Volunteer, Agribusiness and Nutrition Specialist, and Community Development Advocate, dedicated to advancing food security, youth empowerment and sustainable livelihoods in rural Malawi.
With a Bachelor’s degree in Food Security and Nutrition, Denis has built experience across nutrition, agribusiness extension, education, research and project management, applying his expertise to strengthen community resilience and promote grassroots-driven development.
He began his career as a Nutrition Assistant at Dowa District Hospital, where he supported under-five children and women affected by malnutrition.
Between roles, Denis worked as a Research Assistant with organizations such as the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), Yamba Malawi, CLM Consultants and the Center for Agricultural Research and Development (CARD), contributing to surveys and field studies on agriculture, livelihoods and nutrition.
He later joined NutriCare as an Agribusiness Extension Worker

Tisunge Zuwaki
Field & Reseach Associate
Tisunge is a versatile and self-driven professional with over five years of experience in natural resource management, climate-smart agriculture, and nutrition value chains.
Her work spans across community mobilization, agricultural research, food diversification, and sustainable livelihoods, with a strong focus on linking environmental protection to improved nutrition outcomes.Â
Tisunge brings a wealth of skills in field research, monitoring & evaluation, community engagement, and agro-processing value chains, backed by technical proficiency in tools such as NVivo, SPSS, STATA, Kobo Collect, ODK, and ArcGIS.
She holds a Bachelor of Science in Forestry (Credit) from the University of Malawi and is passionate about advancing climate-smart, nutrition-sensitive solutions that improve food security, conserve biodiversity, and strengthen rural livelihoods.
At NutriCare, Tisunge plays a critical role in bridging research and practice, ensuring that nutrition interventions are evidence-based, community-driven, and sustainable.
