At the Sustainable Gastronomy Week Celebration, Nutricare proudly showcased grasshoppers as part of Malawi’s rich indigenous food heritage.
Often overlooked, grasshoppers are highly nutritious, environmentally sustainable, and have long been part of our traditional diets. By celebrating indigenous foods, we’re reminding ourselves that local solutions can play a powerful role in improving nutrition, preserving culture, and strengthening resilient food systems.
We were delighted to see participants embrace the tasting experience and engage in conversations about the value of traditional foods in building healthier communities.
A heartfelt thank you to Norwegian Church Aid Malawi and Dan Church Aid (DCA), whose support continues to advance our work in promoting sustainable nutrition in Malawi.
Together, we’re preserving tradition while nourishing the future.
