At NutriCare, our mission has always been clear: to fight malnutrition and build healthier communities through innovative, nutrition-sensitive agribusiness solutions. Our journey with the Zero Hunger Private Sector Pledge, which we proudly joined in 2021, is helping us transform this vision into reality for thousands of families in Malawi.
Tackling Malnutrition with Innovation
Through our flagship product line, NutriCare fortifies orange maize flour with insect protein powder to create a highly nutritious porridge meal. Each month, the school feeding program distributes more than 600 kilograms of this innovative product, ensuring that over 250 schoolchildren receive vital nutrition. Over the course of a year, this translates to 3,000+ children nourished with better diets and stronger health outcomes. Beyond improving child nutrition, the initiative also generates sustainable income opportunities for Malawi’s youth, who play an active role in its raw material sourcing and product distribution.
Investing in Climate-Smart Agriculture
Beyond nutrition, we are scaling up our work in climate-smart agriculture. NutriCare is currently developing a solar-powered, water-efficient irrigation system to empower smallholder farmers. With access to irrigation, farmers can diversify from maize into more resilient crops such as sorghum, millet, cowpeas, green gram, and cassava—boosting food security while adapting to climate change.
Collaboration for Zero Hunger
Our CEO, Ken Gunsalu, recently joined the Zero Hunger Coalition in Lilongwe to share NutriCare’s story and advocate for greater private sector engagement in ending hunger. Partnerships remain at the heart of our work, as we believe sustainable progress can only be achieved by working together.
